The Urdu-language Pakistani daily **** Jang **** wrote on Sunday that Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan, Seyed Serajoddin Mousavi, has left Pakistan for Tehran for consultation about some important issues.

According to the daily, a senior representative of the Iranian government is expected to visit Pakistan next month in order to confer with Pakistani officials on different issues, including the Afghan crisis. But it did not mention the name or position of the Iranian official.

An informed source at Iran's Embassy in Islamabad said Mousavi's visit to Tehran was just a routine visit. He also said that he was not informed of a visit by an Iranian envoy to Pakistan in the near future.

Meanwhile, another report from Pakistan indicated that Pakistan's Supreme Court will once again hold a hearing in the case of the assassination of martyr Sadeq Ganji, the former head of Iran's Culture House in Lahore.

Ganji was martyred by the Pakistani terrorist Haq Nawaz on December 19, 1990.

The Urdu-language newspaper **** Pakistan **** wrote on Monday that the hearing will be held to discuss the possibility of accepting an appeal filed by the assassin, Haq Nawaz, at the request of his lawyer.

Haq Nawaz, affiliated to an extremist religious group, was due to be executed in a jail last Wednesday. The execution was delayed by Supreme Court Judge Bashir Jahangiri for at least one month.

Nawaz's lawyer called on the court last week to delay the execution in order to find those who provoked the convict.

A three-member team from the Supreme Court's judges, Jahangiri, Sheikh Riyadh Ahmed and Didar Hussein Shah, is going to consider the lawyer's request.

Nawaz was sentenced to death on March 13, 1991 by an anti-terrorist court, which handed down life sentences to five other accomplices.

The Lahore Supreme Court, after nine years, confirmed the death sentence for Nawaz but acquitted the five other convicts. In December 1999, the court upheld the decision.
